What to expect

Sailing around Dubrovnik and its islands is like sailing in paradise. The sailing route starts and ends in Dubrovnik, a town that is in the top 10 of every important “to visit” list and also on UNESCO’s list of World Heritage Sites. Another town on a route is the amazing town of Korčula, a town hidden inside the walls and hometown of famous explorer Marco Polo. Beside these lively towns, the wind will take us to a peaceful island of Šipan and to two Mediterranean pearls, islands Mljet and Lastovo. Both covered with green forests and beautiful coves. Natural Park on Mljet is just breathtaking. Besides islands hopping this sailing tour offers a lot of beautiful nature and peace. It is perfect for family sailing holidays in Croatia as well as groups of friends that just want to enjoy nature and peace.

Our sailing adventures are all full of activities, but it is up to each individual to decide the level of participation, You can really get active with full participation in sailing and other maritime skills, swimming, hiking, snorkeling, suping (Stand up paddling) or You can just relax and enjoy beautiful views from cockpit of the boat with book in one hand and cold drink in another. There will be a chance of nice walks and hikes on Mljet and Lastovo. On Mljet, it is also possible to paddle the lakes.

Sailing holidays in Dubrovnik

Island Šipan/Elaphiti Islands (15Nm)

After You land in Croatia, we will be at the airport waiting for You and will take You straight to the boat. When You get familiar with Your new home and Your Skipper we will set sail to Elaphiti islands, a small archipelago just in front of Dubrovnik. For our first night, we will drop anchor in one of the beautiful bays that Elaphiti are so famous for. Crystal clear water, sandy beaches, and green islands are just some of the things that will charm You on the first day of your sailing in Croatia.

Pomena, Island Mljet (28Nm)

On the second day of your sailing adventure, the wind will take us through Elaphiti islands towards an amazing island of Mljet. Mljet is another Adriatic green oasis as it is covered with dense Mediterranean forest, salt lakes and much more. We will sail on the South side of the island before we reach Pomena, where we will stay for our first day/night. Mljet has National park which can be easily reached from Pomena. A short walk through pine woods will take You to Big and Small lake. On a big lake, there is a small island with Benedictine Monastery. On the lake, you can paddle or take a boat. It is also worth hiking a nearby hill for stunning views over Mljet coast and National Park with lakes.

Polače, Island Mljet (8Nm)

Next morning we will find a nice bay to swim and then sail towards Polače, a small village with beautiful anchorage that is protected by four small islands. In Polače, there are many ancient ruins from 1st to 6th century, but the biggest is a Roman palace, whose walls are still “protecting” village. It is also close to National Park so You can visit Park again or hike on the hill if You missed it on a previous day.

Skrivena luka, Island Lastovo (26Nm)

Another day, another pearl. We will continue with island hopping as we will sail to Lastovo. Lastovo, unfortunately, lies far offshore and for that reason, we will only stay for one night, although it can offer a lot more. We will sail to Skrivena luka (Hidden bay), a beautiful, hidden, green bay. The water here just calls for some water activity, but besides that, a nice walk to one of the oldest lighthouses in the Adriatic is a must. Lighthouse Struga was built in 1839 and stands above the entrance of Skrivena luka as a mighty guard. Like on every other day of our adventure, we will stop on our way in one of the beautiful bays for some swimming and other summer joys that sailing in Croatia offers.

Korčula (26 Nm)

After we enjoyed few days in quiet, remote and not so crowded places we will set sails towards Korčula. Korčula is amazing, lively town on the island of the same name. The whole town is surrounded by 14th-century wall and towers. While walking through Korčula’s narrow street, one can just feel the historic importance of this charming town. There are many art and souvenir shops, as well as konobas (nice fisherman restaurants) offering great local food. Korčula is also supposed to be Marco Polo’s home town (Venice is claiming the same).

Saplunara, Island Mljet (34Nm)

Saplunara is the most beautiful beach on Mljet. Saplunara got the name from Latin word subulum, which means sand. We will enjoy this beautiful sandy beach for water activities and rest before we sail to Metropolitan jewel Dubrovnik.

As we sail back to Dubrovnik we will once again visit Elaphiti islands for some water activities before we do a sailing tour around Dubrovnik. Once we land our boat in Marina, you can leave for Dubrovnik sightseeing. What to say about a town that is pretty much on every top 10 or even top 5 important “to visit” list. Dubrovnik built its reputation and prosperity during 15th and 16th century as the capital of Republic of Ragusa. The old town of Dubrovnik is like Korčula hidden behind the wall with many towers. It is really hard to describe the beauty behind the walls, You will just have to explore and see it for Yourself. UNESCO found its beauty and historical importance in 1979 when Dubrovnik joined the list of World Heritage Sites.

*Route can be changed due to safety, weather or other reasons. Because of numerous islands and bays in Croatia, changed route should not be less interesting or beautiful. We can also make slight changes in the route on a daily basis according to your wishes (sleeping in port or outside in a bay on anchor). Skipper is always in charge of the boat and is always acting in best interest and safety of all the crew and the boat.
