What to expect

This sailing trip in North Croatia (Kvarner) is all about outdoor adventure. We will sail in beautiful area, anchor in some really amazing bays, but we will also explore the islands and hike its peaks and ridges. On our hiking routes we will learn about the history and life of local people. You will be impressed by diversity that nature can provide in a small area as we will visit rocky peninsula of Kamenjak and green islands of Cres, Susak, Lošinj and Unije. It is hard to pick the highlights of this route, but swimming and diving in Blue Cave on Island Cres is definitely something You will be telling Your friends about.

This sailing trip is meant to be quite challenging as we will sail a lot and in between we plan to hike and explore the islands. All our sailing routes are full of activities, but this one is really meant for people in relatively good shape as there will be action nonstop. It makes no sense to do this trip if You just want to relax.

Group size

Sailing Croatia of the beaten route

Debeljak/Portič bay (12Nm)

The first day we will sail South and around Cape of Kamenjak to one of many beautiful bays on the eastern side of amazing peninsula Kamenjak, which is the southernmost point of Istria. We will drop the anchor for the night.

Unije-Maračol bay (20Nm)

After breakfast and morning swim, which is always a must when on anchor in the Adriatic, we can go ashore to explore the protected landscape of Kamenjak. There are many possibilities. Kamenjak is great for snorkeling or even scuba diving; there are many underwater caves as well as cliffs for some cliff jumping. There are also interesting Dinosaur footsteps in the bay of Pinžule and on the island of Fenoligi. Before we set sail towards the island of Unije we must stop in legendary Safari bar, whose owner and the bar itself are really unique. We will spend a night in a beautiful bay of Maračol on the island of Unije.

In the morning we can walk to the village on the other side of the island, for fresh bread and a coffee with locals. A walk is short and offers some really nice views. After that, we set our compass North towards Lubenice bay. Lubenice bay has a really nice beach, located under the cliff on top of which lies small village of Lubenice (378m). This will be our adventure of the day, as it takes around 1 hour of hiking to reach the village, but the view and the sunset from the top is just amazing. The descent takes around half an hour – we will have to be fast if we want to get to the boat before the night.

Osor (12 Nm)

In the morning we will sail to close by beach, which is really similar to the Lubenice beach, but with one difference. On Žanja beach there is a blue cave. We will swim in it and admire the play of colors inside. To get out of the cave it is possible to dive under the rocks and come out on the other side. We will swim and enjoy there all day and then move to a small town of Osor. Although Osor has a reach history, dating all the way back to 9th century B.C, it is not our main reason for visiting it.

Punta Križa (9 Nm)

After a good breakfast, we will climb Osorščica, which is our reason to be here. There are different routes to reach the top of this 588m »mountain«. In any case, it will be demanding as we will walk around 4-5 hours. We will choose our route once we are there. It is really a nice trip with lots of beautiful views of the whole North Adriatic. Once we are back on the boat we can see the town and then move to cape Punta Križa to spend the night in one of many emerald bays.

Susak (18Nm)

There is nothing better than waking up with a jump to a crystal clear water. Today is time to relax, so the only goal is to reach the island of Susak for the night, all the rest is swimming, snorkeling, sailing…
Susak is small island west of Cres and Lošinj. One look at the island and you can immediately see that it is totally different from all the other Adriatic islands. It is mostly formed of fine sand laid on a limestone rock base. As sand is really unique for Adriatic islands, there are still doubts about where this sand came from. Nevertheless, this soil is very fertile so the island is really green

We will spend our last night together in the city of Pula. Pula is famous for its Roman buildings, of which the most famous is 1st-century amphitheater, called Arena by the locals. It is an interesting city so our last night should be fun. In Arena, there are many festivals, plays, and concerts during the summer, so hopefully, there is something interesting on the menu – and it usually is.

*Route can be changed due to safety, weather or other reasons. Because of numerous islands and bays in Croatia, changed route should not be less interesting or beautiful. We can also make slight changes in the route on a daily basis according to your wishes (sleeping in port or outside in a bay on anchor). Skipper is always in charge of the boat and is always acting in best interest and safety of all the crew and the boat.
