- Lojena bay -one of the best beaches in Croatia (hidden gem)
- Paddling & Camping
- Breathtaking views and sunsets
Expect a true Adriatic kayaking expedition trip. Croatia is one of the best Sea Kayaking regions in the Mediterranean and we will combine it with hiking. Our base will be the island of Levrnaka in the heart of more than 100 islands forming Kornati National Park, where we will set a camp which brings another dimension to our sea kayaking adventure. Kornati islands are really unique and different than any other island or archipelago in the area. On one side they are close to land and civilization but on the other, they are remote, uninhabited (only in summer) and unexploited. Life here is slow and in coexistence with nature. There are around 90 islands on a small area, sea kayaking between them is spectacular and impressive, especially when one paddles under 180-meter cliffs. Views and sunsets on Kornati are really spectacular and we will hike to the best places to enjoy and admire this pristine and untouched paradise.
Sea kayaking adventure around Kornati archipelago demands some physical condition as we will be active from 3 to sometimes also 8 hours a day. Besides sea kayaking, there will also be quite some hiking, as well as swimming and snorkeling. If you are in good condition you can be a first-time paddler to join us.
Minimum 4 people
We will start this sea kayak tour near the town of Zadar, more specifically in Sv. Filip Jakov. As Kornati National Park is a remote archipelago we will prepare all the equipment and load it to our motorboat that will take us on a nice journey through the islands of Zadar archipelago to finally reach Kornati islands and our expedition base in one of the most beautiful bays in Croatia, Lojena bay on the island of Levrnaka. Our first mission after arrival will be setting up a camp and after the rest of the day will be free to explore the wilderness of the island and some swimming on our beautiful Caribbean-like home beach, just meters from the camp. The night will be dedicated to socializing and briefing about our kayaking adventure that is ahead of us.
Strong breakfast is a must for a fun kayaking day. After breakfast, we will go through some paddling techniques and safety measures. On a first day, we will kayak to the island of Kornat, where we will visit Fort Tureta from the 6th century and little church called Tarca, Queen of the sea from the Byzantine era. After that, our sea kayaks will take us to the nearby cove of Kravljačica where we will hike to the highest peak of Kornati islands, Metlina (237m). The hike takes some 20 minutes and is more than worth the hike. From the top, we will have a breathtaking view over the whole National Park Kornati with more than 100 islands, islets, and rocks as well as some other islands and the mainland. After our descent, we will enjoy life on a beach in Kravljačica and later paddle back to our camp for dinner and good night sleep.
Today our kayaks will take us to the nearby nature park Telaščica. Telaščica is an amazing place that borders with the Kornati archipelago. Its big cliffs are perfect to paddle under, but also the Salt lake Mir in the middle of the park on an island Dugi otok is worth a visit. When we reach Lojišće Cove on Dugi otok, we will secure our kayaks and hike to Lake Mir and to the top of big 186m cliffs. We will use great atmosphere of the lake for our brake and picnic-lunch. Afterward, we will paddle back to camp for a good dinner and great night sleep.
Today we will paddle south, first to the mysterious island of Mana where there are remains of a fort at the top of the cliff. Mana will also impress you with its 1350m long cliff crown. We will continue kayaking towards island Piškera where your guide will tell you a bit about this interesting once fishing village island. At its peak, in the 16th century, the island had 40 houses that fisherman used when setting offshore for fishing. The story will be served together with a delicious lunch. Remains of this Roman village can still be seen in the sea. After lunch, we will kayak all the way to the island of Lavsa where we will camp for one night before returning back t the base on Levrnaka.
Today we will start kayaking back north to our base, but a day is long and plenty to see and discover on the way back. Of course, we will use a different route and will visit the island of Veli Rašip where we will enjoy turquoise waters and spend some time relaxing.
Today is reserved for short kayak trip or “resting” on our home beach Lojena. The idea is to kayak to Vrulje “the capital” of Kornati National Park and visit Trtuša educational trail.. One last dinner awaits us and hopefully a long night of stories and impressions. Not to forget, just above the campsite is a nice peak for breathtaking sunsets.
It’s time to pack and sail back to reality. After 4 hour sail back, arrival in Zadar is planned for 1:00pm or by agreement.
