What to expect

Barcolana is the biggest sailing race in the world. It’s on every sailors bucket list, but it should be also on every travelers list, because this event is so unique that words really can’t describe it. Just seeing 2000 sailing boats on the same starting line is amazing, but to be on the water among them is beyond imaginable.
Barcolana takes place in front of Trieste and off course continuous on the streets of the city for a whole week. It all started in 1969 when 51 boats gathered to mark the end of sailing season. Over the years the race grew to the biggest sailing event in the world. A week long sailing feast offers many sailing races and land events with few hundred thousand visitors over the week. It all finishes with Sundays big Barcolana, where every year around 2000 sailing boats from all around the globe starts at the same time. Many of them taking it really seriously, but many taking it for fun, to enjoy and experience this unique and unforgettable event.
We will take You there to capture all of it. We’ll have lots of fun but we will also try to be as competitive as it gets. No matter what, we promise You it will be something You’ll never forget and You will not find something like it anywhere in the world.
We sleep on boat in the heart of the happening, in Trieste.

Activity

You will experience 2 days of training and race on final day. Training days will be organized according to your sailing skills and experience. We will go through all the maneuvers, sail selection and changes. Some sailing experience is welcome although our 2 skippers who will be with You for the race and training days will prepare You for the race, even if You don’t have experience. 3 days of sailing is quite demanding so it will be quite physical. In the evening we will join thousands on the streets of Trieste and enjoy the sailing atmosphere that is all over the place in this unique sailing festival.
